The first annual report of Clinton Sewer Department
was published on February 1st, 1889. Construction of the sanitary
sewer system for the Town had begun the previous year. Within
a few years the system had expanded to service major portions
of Clinton. Today nearly 100% of homes and businesses in Clinton
are served by the municipal sewer system.
Our mission today is the same as in 1889: to provide
a safe and reliable system for the treatment and disposal of sewage
and wastewater. The Department operates seven booster pumping
stations and 50 miles of sewer mains, including many of the original
conduits built in 1888! All Town of Clinton sewage is treated
at the Clinton Waste Water Treatment Plant operated by the Massachusetts
Water Resources Authority on High Street.
